Three days without posting, huh? That’s got to be some sort of record for me. I’m not really surprised about this state of affairs since it was always clear to me and my “all or nothing” personality that the minute I skipped even one daily post it would sound as a death knell to the daily posting schedule in it’s entirety and I rarely let myself down. Still, it was never my intention to go so long without even popping in to offer an excuse or at least a bold-faced lie in my defense. That honor goes to the unusual weekend of roller coaster-esque highs and lows that tried with varying degrees of success to maim, molest, and murder me with it’s twisted humor.
For example, take this lovely peg board that we put up in the laundry room.
I spent the better part of a couple of hours lovingly taping off the stripes and painting them in with various shades of leftover paint from around the house. With nothing but the greatest care and precision I chose each stripe’s color to achieve the effect of effortless arbitrariness. It was to be my magnum opus…or, at least, something really cool. Unfortunately, as I painted my final stripe I was rudely interrupted by TRAgEDY! HoRrOr! MayHEM! and MaDnEsS!!!! And by the time I got back the paint had dried and removing the tape resulted in much peeling of paint and sobbing hysterics. Oh well. Still, from a distance, it looks nice. Just don’t get too close.
And now, your baby of Zen.
